Posted and updated 5/24/15 – Alan Reynolds (50-54 age division) won the Mt. Wilson Trail Race yesterday with a time of 1:05:09. First place among the women went to Sally June Tracy (25-29 age division), with a time of 1:13:44. Second place among the men went to Ben Ward, who came in at 1:06:55. Third place went to Mark Butala, with a time of 1:08:13. Second and third place in the women’s division went to Mireya Vargas (1:16:19) and Heather Huggins with a time of 1:20:55.

The race began when the horn was sounded by Bob Spears, a long time volunteer firefighter and member of the Trail Race Committee. Spears sounded the horn following the presentation of the colors by Sierra Madre’s Harry L. Embree Post 3208 VFW, and the national anthem, sung by 12-year old Kaiya Wilson.

Once the adults had gone up the hill, the Kids Fun Run took place, with two divisions, ages 3 to 6 (Kersting Court to Highland and

back), and 7 to 12 (Kersting Court to Mira Monte and back). Thanks to Kids Fun run sponsor the Sierra Madre Community Foundation, all runners received a ribbon for their efforts, and the first 250 to enter received a free t-shirt sporting the design by the winner of a design contest held in the local schools, won by Christine Manoukian, a 4th grader at Sierra Madre Elementary School, for her entry titled “The Kids Fun Run”.

This year’s race was run by 306 runners.  I’ll be posting a lot more photos and videos over the next few days, including hundreds of pictures of runners crossing the finish line.  Be sure to check back.
