{"id":10005,"date":"2012-07-06T10:34:35","date_gmt":"2012-07-06T17:34:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sierramadrenews.net\/?p=10005"},"modified":"2012-07-06T10:34:35","modified_gmt":"2012-07-06T17:34:35","slug":"letter-to-the-editor-re-student-loan-apps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.sierramadrenews.net\/?p=10005","title":{"rendered":"Letter to the Editor re: Student Loan Apps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Posted 7\/6\/12 &#8211; Please forward this to anyone who might need to know&#8230; Monday my daughter sat down to renew her FAFSA for the fall semester (if you don&#8217;t have college kids yet this is the Federal student aid application that must be filed for any type of student aid to be considered).\u00a0 She didn&#8217;t bookmark the site so she typed in<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;fafsa&#8217;.\u00a0 The first site on Google is fafsa.com, where she began filling in all the familiar questions including social security numbers and income information for her and myself.\u00a0 It wasn&#8217;t until the very end that we questioned any part of the application.\u00a0 The site we were on required a $60 dollar processing fee to &#8220;review the application for any errors&#8221;. Weird!!! FAFSA IS FREE!!!\u00a0 We would never have questioned this site if we hadn&#8217;t filed many FAFSA apps in the past!!!\u00a0 So, forward this-<\/p>\n<p>FAFSA.COM IS NOT THE GOVERNMENT SITE.\u00a0 YOU NEVER HAVE TO PAY FOR FILING YOUR FAFSA.
