{"id":1097,"date":"2011-04-13T16:45:59","date_gmt":"2011-04-13T23:45:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sierramadrenews.net\/?p=1097"},"modified":"2011-04-13T16:45:59","modified_gmt":"2011-04-13T23:45:59","slug":"legendary-bingo-fundraiser-for-smrfa-this-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.sierramadrenews.net\/?p=1097","title":{"rendered":"Legendary Bingo Fundraiser for SMRFA This Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sierramadrenews.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Slide1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1098 alignleft\" title=\"Slide1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sierramadrenews.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Slide1-150x112.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"112\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sierramadrenews.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Slide1-150x112.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.sierramadrenews.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Slide1-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.sierramadrenews.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Slide1.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>Saturday night, April 16th at 6:30pm the doors open for Legendary Bingo, the twice annual fundraiser for the Sierra Madre Rose Float Association.\u00a0 Bingo begins at 7:30pm, but this is not your grandmother&#8217;s Bingo.\u00a0 Emceed by a drag queen, usually Belle Aire, Legendary Bingo is a raucous night of bingo, laughter, yelling and pelting.\u00a0 Certain Bingo numbers have &#8220;call backs&#8221; which members of the audience are asked to enthusiastically shout out whenever they are called.\u00a0 One of the cleaner ones, for instance: &#8220;Everybody&#8217;s favorite vitamin&#8221; results in cries of B12 from the crowd.\u00a0 Of course, hosted by a drag queen, you can imagine that many of the call backs are a little more adult in nature.<\/p>\n<p>Donation of $20 is requested at the door.\u00a0 Pizza, beer wine and non-alcohol beverages are available for purchase.\u00a0 Popcorn is complimentary.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bingo winners are presented with gift baskets generously donated by (mostly) local businesses, but not until they&#8217;ve run a lap around the room giving the &#8220;losers&#8221; the opportunity to &#8220;pelt them&#8221; with the losing bingo cards.<\/p>\n<p>Legendary Bingo will be held in the recently renovated Sierra Madre Room at the Rec. Center at 611 E.
