Posted 5\/25\/2013, updated 5\/26\/13, and again 5\/27\/13 –<\/em> Weather conditions were ideal for running (grayish blue skies, mid-60s), so it was a great day for a race, in this case the 47th running of the Mt. Wilson Trail Race, in the 105th anniversary year of it’s first running in 1908.<\/p>\n

Eulogio Rodriguez of Whittier was the overall winner with a time of 1:00:32, followed by Jon Clark of Rancho Santa Margarita, at 1:01:31, and Sierra Madre’s Aaron Zambrano, at 1:02:08. \u00a0 Interestingly, these three gentlemen were the top three last year, with Clark in first place, Zambrano in second and Rodriguez in third place last year. \u00a0Zambrano, in addition to being the first Sierra Madrean across the line, was the first person in the 15 – 19 age group.<\/p>\n

Mireya Vargas of Pasadena was the first place woman with a time of 1:14:34. Emily Farr of La Crescenta came in second among the female finishers with a time of 1:16:59. \u00a0\u00a0Sally Tracey of Los Angeles was third place among the women, with a time of 1:19:04. \u00a0My apologies to Emily Farr, I incorrectly announced the second place winner in my initial coverage.<\/p>\n

This year’s race, which sold out in about 2-1\/2 hours when registration opened on March 4th, featured runners from Zimbabwe, Maryland, Colorado among other places. \u00a0There were about twenty runners under the age of 20, and a similar number over the age of 70. \u00a0One running club, the Arrogant Bastards team trained by Eric LeClair, had 89 entries of the 300+ in the race.<\/p>\n

There was even one runner, Bettina Beck of Riverside, CA, who competed while she is five months pregnant. \u00a0Ms. Beck finished with a time of 2:20:21. \u00a0Congratulations, Bettina. \u00a0As always, click on a photo to enlarge it.<\/p>\n
