At last night’s General Plan Update Steering Committee (GPUSC) meeting, during public comment Councilmember MaryAnn MacGillivray asked about a\u00a0telephone poll that many Sierra Madreans have been contacted about.\u00a0 According to one member of the Steering Committe who has been polled, it is apparently conducted by a company from out of state, and asks questions that make it sound like it might possibly be a part of a City program, and maybe even the General Plan Survey that has been available in print and online for sometime.<\/p>\n
That is not the case.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The City is NOT conducting ANY polls by telephone at this time.\u00a0 According to City Manager Elaine Aguilar, the City does not know who is doing the poll, and is unable to do any more than ask questions, such as who is sponsoring the poll.\u00a0 The pollsters do not have to answer the City’s questions.\u00a0<\/p>\n
