Firefigther Brent Bartlett cooks up some flapjacks<\/p><\/div>\n

The Sierra Madre Volunteer Firefighters’ Association will hold its annual Pancake Breakfast at the Fire Station from 7am to 11am.\u00a0 Cost is $5, and proceeds are used to help the SMVFA fund numerous philanthropic endeavors, including the recent Easter Egg Hunt, and the annual Christmas stocking giveaway on Christmas Eve.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Friends of the Library 49th Annual Art Fair at Memorial Park 9:30am to 6pm on Saturday, 9:30 to 5pm on Sunday<\/strong><\/p>\n

Admission to the Fair is free, and there will be live concerts by The String Planet from 11am to 1pm and The Eclectic Connection from 2pm to 4pm.\u00a0 Featured artist is Ivy Shuman, a wood turner from Chatsworth.<\/p>\n

Although the annual Mother\u2019s Day Tea usually sells out, don\u2019t hesitate to call the Sierra Madre Public Library to check on last-minute ticket availability if you would like to attend.\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cLove and Friendship: A Mother\u2019s Day Tea with Jane Austen,\u201d will be held on Saturday, May 7, 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Woman\u2019s Club Clubhouse, 550 W. Sierra Madre Blvd.\u00a0 Mary Burkin will perform as Jane Austen, reading from her works and sharing tidbits of family and neighborhood gossip.\u00a0 Afternoon tea, boasting a full complement of fruits, sweets and savories, follows the program.\u00a0 If available, tickets may be purchased at the Library up until 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 6. General Plan Update Town Hall Forum<\/strong><\/p>\n

One does not need to be a resident of Sierra Madre to participate in the survey, people who work, shop, or are otherwise involved are invited to provide input as well.\u00a0 Kids will enjoy the onsite \u201cbouncy house\u201d and free popcorn and cotton candy.\u00a0 This forum is a community wide brain storming session to help determine the vision to carry Sierra Madre into the next 20-30 years.<\/p>\n

The focus of this forum is Families, Youth, Businesses, Services, and Institutions.\u00a0 This is the second in a series of forums in which the public is being asked to give the GPUSC guidance as they work to update the City\u2019s General Plan.\u00a0 Every city and county in California is required to have a General Plan.\u00a0 A General Plan can and should be used as a long-term outlook that provides a basis for decision-making by City Council and appointed Commissions.\u00a0 Sierra Madre adopted its first General Plan in 1996.<\/p>\n

Sierra Madre Kiwanis will host the Boot-Skootin Dance and Chili Cook-off Fundraiser from 6 to 10pm at the Sierra Madre Room in the Rec. Center at 611 E.
