The Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority selected artist Andrew Leicester in 2010 to design the bridge and awarded the construction contract to Skanska USA last January to build the $18 million structure.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3536\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sierramadrenews.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/210bridge2.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3536\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-3536\" title=\"210bridge2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sierramadrenews.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/210bridge2-150x111.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"111\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sierramadrenews.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/210bridge2-150x111.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.sierramadrenews.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/210bridge2-300x223.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.sierramadrenews.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/210bridge2.jpg 467w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3536\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Area just west of Santa Anita exit on 210 East where bridge will be built, click to enlarge<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Concrete bridge foundations will be built in coming months before temporary supports are constructed over the freeway this the fall. The I-210 Bridge is scheduled to be completed in July 2012, with the entire Foothill Extension segment from Pasadena to Azusa scheduled for completion in early 2015. This segment of the Foothill Extension will connect Gold Line light rail service into Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale and Azusa. Another segment extending the line to Montclair is currently under environmental review and the final segment to Ontario Airport is also under study.<\/p>\n<p>Intermittent late-night closures of the eastbound will be\u00a0necessary during bridge construction. The Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority will issue regular construction notices to update the community on bridge construction activities and schedules.
