Sierra
Madre Downtown Improvement Project
The
following press release was received
from EC Construction, the General
Contractor on
 the project. Each
Friday, he meets with Public Works
Director Bruce Inman, and they review
the week's work, and determine what will
be the following week's tasks. We
have been told that we will be receiving
these announcements
weekly. When we receive it, we will
post it same day, so check back
regularly. Thanks to Mr. John
Gavigan of EC Construction for taking
the time to send these out, so that we
can help the City and the Contractor
minimize the disruption in your lives by
keeping you
informed as this major undertaking takes
place over the next few months.

Status Report Sierra Madre Downtown Improvement
Project
As of November 1, 2002 the City of Sierra Madre
Downtown Improvement project was substantially complete. The Contractor
remains on site correcting various minor items of work per directions from
City staff inspectors. This work is to be complete by November 15th.
Due to unforeseen difficulties with their suppliers of
poles and light fixtures, the Edison Company was unable to provide all of
the needed street lights and poles in time to meet the November 1st
completion deadline. In order to have a significant section of the project
area lit by November 1, Edison provided temporary acorn-shaped light
fixtures. These lights are brighter than the permanent fixtures that were
ordered. It is important to note that these lights are temporary only. The
permanent lights will match the existing lights on North Baldwin in style
and wattage.
Edison contractors will return to the project area and
set the remainder of the poles and install the light fixtures as they arrive
from the suppliers. The Edison Company has assured the City that all light
poles and all of the permanent light fixtures will be installed by November
15th. Edison has provided temporary fixtures and overtime installation and
service to the City at no charge, in an effort to complete the project in a
timely manner.
