Lailey and Co. Holds Grand Opening
Friday, Sept. 15, 2000

On Friday, Sept. 15th, the Chamber of Commerce and City Officials  turned out for the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony that took place at Lailey and Company, (60 W. Sierra Madre Blvd.).  “I have to thank Mayor Stockly and Ann Luke, the President of the Chamber, and all the others who took time from their busy schedules to come down and welcome me into town.  The townspeople have been very supportive," said Tom Lailey, owner of the fine jewelry store.

Lailey is a fifth-generation jeweler and jewelry designer who began running the family business in 1965.  The company history dates back to 1875, when it was started in Canada.  In 1919, it was moved to El Monte, and has been associated with the San Gabriel Valley area in the 80+ years since, including more than a quarter century down in Clearman’s Village at Rosemead and Huntington.  Drawing on a wide customer base that ranges from Orange County to Santa Clarita, San Marino to Glendale, Lailey sent out hundreds of mailers announcing the Grand Opening celebration, and estimates there were more than 150 in attendance on Friday night.

Customers enjoyed a nice spread of refreshments while viewing pictures and artifacts that reflected the company’s long history.  But most came to see the exquisite jewelry, much of it one of a kind and designed by Lailey himself.  Lailey and Company designs and fabricates jewelry in all types of media, including silver, 14K and 18K gold, platinum, etc..  He will also make custom jewelry per your request.  Click on the thumbnails below to see full-size pictures of the gala celebration and some samples of the jewelry available at Sierra Madre’s newest venue for fine jewelry.
