Music News Update

by Sierra Madre Sue Behrens

The 4th of July festivities did me in, so this week's report is not as extensive as usual.  There's a lot of great music going on all Summer long.  Check your town's Concerts in the Park schedule for starters.  My pick of this weekend would have to be the annual "CELEBRATION ON THE COLORADO STREET BRIDGE" in Pasadena on Sat. July 14th.  A variety of live music on 3 stages featuring some of my favorite local bands.  Although they've been around for 20 years, Mercy & the Merkettes are making their first appearance on the Bridge.  They will definitely provide some friendly competition for veterans Snotty Scotty & the Hankies (pictured here, click to enlarge) who have their usual slot on the stage at the west end.  More details below...

We're going to post links to past Music News columns, not because it makes sense to post outdated calendar items, but just so you can look up the name of the band that played at that place last Thursday that it's driving you crazy that you can't remember.  Actually, we may also add to some of the old columns by creating links at the blurb about an event, if we cover it and have either photos or videos that we've posted for that event.
