thumbThe Fourth of July in Sierra Madre is a very big deal. They say "Half the town marches in the parade, the other half is watching." People come from all over the southland for the festivities, and when the 4th falls on a weekend, it's eeeextry goooood.  Concerts in the park, movies in the park, antique calliope shows, food and beverage booths in the park (including the traditional beer garden run by the Sierra Madre Volunteer Firefighter's Association) and so much more. Make your plans to join us this year. But celebrations don't come without a lot of hard work. Kudos to the 4th of July committee, most of whom have been with the Committee since its inception and have guided it to its current heights.

Celebrate Sierra Madre’s Centennial Year with FOUR DAYS of Independence Day Fun!

 

Saturday, June 30, 7pm.

Foot-stompin’ jazz under the stars with the Crazy Rhythm Hot Society Dance Band!  This superb band plays the best hot jazz of the 1920s and 1930s!  Grandma’s 78s never sounded this good! The downbeat is at 7pm in the Memorial Park band shell, sponsored by the Sierra Madre Centennial Committee.

 

Sunday, July 1, 10am – 4pm

Band Organ Rally!  Remember old-fashioned merry-go-rounds, with that big machine in the middle that plays music?  That’s a “band organ”! These amazing mechanical music-making machines will fill Memorial Park with marvelous melodies!  Hear band organs, calliopes, music boxes, and other turn-of-the-century musical marvels. 

 

Tuesday, July 3, 5pm – 10pm

Pre-Parade Party in the Park!  Food booths and Beer Garden open at 5pm.

 

At 6pm The Aluminum Marshmallow returns to Sierra Madre with an all-new show! Rockin’ oldies and lots of classic rock from the 60’s and 70’s…. and those talented brothers The Sheds will also play, for non-stop music till 10pm!  Don’t miss The 4th Annual Bubble-Wrap “Fireworks-O-Rama” on the dance floor…it’s cheesy, but loads of fun!

 

Wednesday, July 4, 10am…The 4th of July Parade is led by The Ward Family, our 2007 Grand Marshal in this Centennial year.  E. Waldo Ward and Son has been in business in Sierra Madre since 1891!

 

After the parade, it’s our Community Picnic in Memorial Park.  Join the fun with games on the south lawn. More great food, fun and live music! At noon, enjoy fantastic dixieland jazz by The Night Blooming Jazzmen.
