Posted 10/16/12, From PUSD Weekly Newsflash – At its meeting October 9, the PUSD Board of Education approved the establishment of Sierra Madre Middle School as a separate grades 6-8 entity from Sierra Madre Elementary in the 2013-2014 academic year. The district’s successful Mandarin Immersion program, located at Field Elementary for grades K-5, will also eventually expand to the middle school grades at the Sierra Madre Middle School campus. Except for attendance zone residents, students who enter kindergarten at Sierra Madre Elementary School in 2013-2014 will no longer be guaranteed placement at the middle school. Current students will be “grandfathered” for placement in the middle school.
