Posted 5/23/13 – On Saturday, May 12th, the Sierra Madre Kiwanis Club held its 3rd Annual Boot Skootin’ Dance and Chili Cook Off at the Rec. Center and packed the house with folks learning to dance country western style (and some who were already quite expert), and enjoying chili dished up by nearly a dozen contestants. There was also a silent auction, and Joe and Jacqui Pergola served up hot dogs for those who wanted something to go with their chili.
Radio talk show host Peter Dills was the judge of the Chili contest, though there was also a “People’s Choice” Category. Chef Dills chose Hattie Harris as the winner of the contest, with second place going to City Council member Josh Moran. The People’s Choice winner was the “Green Team” of Laura and Tony Aguilar, with second place going to JerriAnne Latham and Lisa Brandley.
