Sierra Madre Hit By Seven Burglaries In Seven Days

Posted 8/6/13 – The City of Sierra Madre reported today that “Pasadena and Arcadia Police Departments assisted Sierra Madre PD in a containment setup following an attempted burglary on the 600 block of Edgeview Drive. The suspect fled the home when the owner saw him and ran towards the monastery. The helicopter and K-9 units assisted with the search, but the suspect was not found. This suspect is not the same from last night.

Residents are encouraged to be extra vigilant, to lock their doors, set their alarm systems, and to report any and all suspicious activity to 911.”

The “last night” referred to in the statement referred to four attempted burglaries, one of which was successful, which took place last night in the 400 block of Ramona and the 600 block of Manzanita.  According to a statement by the City, in all four crimes, the victims were at home and asleep.  One suspect was apprehended, the other escaped despite the use of K-9s and helicopters.  According to the statement, both suspects have lengthy criminal records and are on parole.

Last night’s incidents came just days after two men were arrested after breaking into a home on Sierra Woods on July 31st.   And on August 1st, a home was ransacked and robbed in the 400 block of North Michillinda by an unknown suspect.
