UPDATE FROM THE CITY AT 5:11pm –

SMALL BRUSH FIRE UPDATE

Sierra Madre’s Dispatch received a call at approximately 3:37pm in regards to a blown electrical transformer and live lines down at the rear of a property on the 600 Block of Sierra Meadow Drive. A small brush fire developed and moved uphill towards the Auburn Avenue road next to the Auburn Debris Basin.

The fire is estimated to have reached approximately ¼ acre and was quickly extinguished. Sierra Madre’s Fire and Police personnel arrived upon the scene and set up command on the 700 block of Auburn Avenue. Mutual Aid was received from the Cities of Arcadia and Pasadena in addition to US Forest Service personnel. There was no reported injuries or damage to property.

The quick response from SMFD, Arcadia Fire and Pasadena Fire seems to have put this fire out quite quickly. The brush on the hillside of what I believe is LACDPW land was close to quite a few houses on Hermosa and down below to the west. When I left to post these pictures, I saw no more flames, just smoke, and the Fire Departments were continuing to hose down the hillside to prevent it from flaring up again. SMPD is asking folks to avoid the area as of 4:30pm.
