5th Annual Boot-Skootin’ Dance and Chili Cook-Off This Saturday

Press Release posted 5/6/15 – Kiwanis will host its’ 5th Annual Boot Skootin’ Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. The event is a combination membership drive and fundraiser held to support various children’s programs including the Imagine Arts Program for Sierra Madre Elementary School, The Sierra Madre Middle School Builders Club and the Arcadia High School Key Club. An opportunity drawing will also be held to raise funds for the Kiwanis International Project Eliminate which is a worldwide effort to eliminate the threat of maternal/neo-natal tetanus.

The evening will feature the popular Chili Cook- Off—a competition between local restaurateurs and amateur chefs. Celebrity Food Critic Peter Dills will bestow the Critic’s Choice Award in both categories. In addition, The People’s Choice award will be granted to the crowd favorites, both professional and amateur. Henry Duenas will entertain the audience as DJ and provide line dancing instructions for those who want to learn a few new steps! A silent auction will also be held.

Don’t miss out on a night you will never forget! A One Day Membership Fee is available for $25 and entitles you to entrance to the event, eat all the chili you can eat and be a People’s Choice judge, plus much more! The Sierra Madre Kiwanis Club was established in 1927 and is committed to helping to improve the quality of life for all, One Community, One Child at a time! Meetings are held on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at noon. Breakfast meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00am. All meetings are held at The Lodge, 33 E. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre.
