City Seeks Input, Volunteers for YAC Improvements

City logo

The City is “re-developing” the YAC and trying to get more enrichment based programs implemented to better suit the needs of parents and teens residing in Sierra Madre. The YAC Re-Development Committee would provide insight and help steer the process of creating new programs and activities. Having the input of local school administrator and parents is an integral part in trying to provide the best possible program at the Youth Activity Center.

The Youth Activity Center serves teenagers ages 11-17 in a 3,400 square foot facility at the Community Recreation Center. Staff is currently looking for a few more people to volunteer on our Youth Activity Center’s Re-Development Committee. The first meeting will be held on Thursday, February 17 at 6:00pm at 611 E. Sierra Madre Blvd. The meeting will be approximately  45 minutes-1 hour long and it is hoped that the community will provide input as to the perceptions of the YAC, ways to increase memberships, and programming ideas. The ideal volunteer would be a parent of a teen ages 11-17 or someone who closely works with teens in this age group such as a teacher or school administrator. The City’s hope for this project is to provide teenagers and parents with enriching, educational, and entertaining programs that both parents and teens will enjoy.
