Levin Steps Down as City Attorney

At the beginning of tonight’s Council Meeting, Mayor John Buchanan took a moment at the beginning of the reports by Council Members to announce that after five years, City Attorney Sandra (Sandy) Levin is stepping down as City Attorney and General Counsel to the Sierra Madre Community Redevelopment Agency.  Levin replaced Michael Colantuano when he stepped down in 2006.  The pair are partners in Colantuano and Levin, a law firm with offices in Penn Valley and Los Angeles, CA.  Levin received her degree from UC Berkeley’s Boalt Hall School of Law in 1987, worked for Riordan and McKenzie until teaming up with Colantuano to form the firm in 2000.

If I heard correctly, Levin will be replaced by Teresa Highsmith, Interim City Attorney to the City of Barstow and Interim General Counsel of the Barstow Redevelopment Agency.  She served as City Attorney for Alameda from 2006 to 2011, prior to joining Colantuano and Levin.

No reason was given for Levin’s departure.
