Sierra Madre Police Blotter, 10/9/11 – 10/15/11

Sierra Madre Police Dept. logoPosted 10/17/11 – During the week of Sunday, October 9th, to Saturday October 15th, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded to approximately 243 calls for service. See crimereports.com for updated information. 

Sunday, October 9th:

4:43 AM- Unlawful Display Evidence Of Registration, Baldwin Blvd and Orange Grove St.   An officer stopped a 58-year old Sierra Madre motorist for a Vehicle Code violation.  Further investigation revealed that the driver had false registration tabs on the car, no car insurance and a suspended/revoked driver’s license.  The driver was arrested and released on a written promise to appear. 

2:18 PM- Possession of Marijuana/1oz or less, Carter Ave and Lima St. This case involved three male juveniles who were in possession of marijuana and a camel metallic canister with green leafy substance.  One of the three juveniles was arrested and released on a written promise to appear.

Monday, October 10th:

5:06 PM- Courtesy Report, 700 blk. W. Sierra Madre Blvd.  This case involved a victim whose brother forged her signature to obtain 50% ownership of a residence in Sierra Madre.    

Thursday, October 13th:

6:49 AM- Allegation of Child Abuse/Neglect, 400 blk. Fairview Ave.  This case involved information forwarded to the Department of Family Services by a mandated reporter.  DCFS and Sierra Madre officers conducted an investigation and found the case to be unfounded.   

11:38 AM- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc.  This case involved the use of a victim’s card number by an unknown suspect(s).

5:04 PM- Assist to Other Agency, 100 blk. Carter Ave.  This case involved SMPD officers assisting Los Angeles County Psychiatric team with a mentally ill man. 

Friday, October 14th:

10:44 AM- Unlawful Display Evidence of Registration, 100 blk. W. Highland Ave.  This case involved an illegally parked car.  Further investigation revealed that the driver had false registration tabs on the car.  The officer removed the plates from the car and cited the driver. 

1:51 PM- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain Credit/Etc. This case took place in the city of Lakewood, CA where a victim’s card was used to withdraw $72.35 from his checking account by an unknown suspect(s).

Saturday, October 15th:

2:31 AM- DUI/Alcohol Drugs, Baldwin Ave and Foothill Blvd.  An officer stopped a 35-year old West Covina motorist for a Vehicle Code violation and determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana.  The driver was arrested and taken to the Pasadena Police Department for booking.                    

1:45 PM- Tampering/Injuring Vehicle or Contents, 100 blk. San Gabriel Ct.  This case involved a victim’s car being vandalized with a white spray while parked in the victim’s driveway.  

7:25 PM- Suspended/Revoked Driver’s License, Foothill Ave and Baldwin Ave.  An officer stopped a 24-year old West Covina motorist for a Vehicle Code violation.  Further investigation revealed that the driver had an outstanding warrant.  The female was transported to Pasadena Police Department Jail for booking.
