The Christmas season brings wonderful traditions to Alverno High School including the annual Candlelight Celebration. This year, Alverno will host this special tradition on Wednesday, December 14th at 7pm. The entire Alverno community will gather near the Villa Del Sol d’ Oro and take part in the story of Christmas from the birth of Jesus to the Annunciation. Student and alumnae actors will re-create the story and the crowd will join the choirs for traditional Christmas music. Each person carries a candle and walks in a procession around the Villa to watch the scenes. All community members are welcome to attend the event and experience the warmth of the holiday season through one of the most cherished Alverno traditions.

Alumnae who are in attendance are given a special red candle to signify their status as alumnae. “The Candlelight Celebration is a beautiful event that definitely puts each person in the Christmas spirit,” says Sue Behrens ‘78. “It brings together alumnae, current families and many other members of the community in a beautiful celebration of the season.”

Following the procession that takes place outside the Villa, the Alverno student choirs and the alumnae gather inside and sing more Christmas carols. Warm refreshments are served at the end of the program. For more information and to RSVP, please contact the front office at Alverno High School at (626) 355-3463.
