Sierra Madre Halloween  2011

The Community and Personnel Services Department, in conjunction with the Sierra Madre Kiwanis Club and Sierra Madre Chamber of Commerce, presents Halloween Happenings. Halloween activities include: trick-or-treating, a costume parade along Sierra Madre Blvd., and a costume contest in Memorial Park.

Monday, October 31, 2011
Sierra Madre businesses are handing out candy in and around Kersting Court. Participating businesses will have a trick-o-treating sign posted in their window. This portion of Halloween Happenings is arranged by the Sierra Madre Chamber of Commerce.

3:30-5:00pm: Downtown Sierra Madre Trick-or-Treating

Many of the downtown merchants will be passing out treats to youngsters in costume.  Baldwin Ave. and Sierra Madre Blvd. will be closed to parking and through traffic from 3:30 to 5:30pm.

4:00-5:00pm Costume Contest Sign-Up

The Costume Contest is sponsored by the Sierra Madre Kiwanis Club. Registration may only be done in Kersting Court prior to the start of the costume parade.

5:00pm Costume Parade

Everyone is invited to participate in the Sierra Madre Costume Parade, no registration is required! The start of the parade begins in Kersting Court. The Sierra Madre Fire Department is once again leading the parade down Sierra Madre Blvd. to the finish at Memorial Park.

5:30pm Costume Contest

Once parade participants arrive at Memorial Park, the Costume Contest begins shortly at the Bandshell Participants will be judged in the following age categories: walking-2 years, 3-4 years, 5-7 years, 8-10 years, and 11 and up. Awards for the top three contestants will be presented immediately following the judging of each age category. Remember youth must pre-register in Kersting Court to be eligible.

Not sponsored by the City, but the highlight for many, are the decorated  houses throughout the City, especially on Alegria Ave., which has grown through the years to its current levels, when thousands visit the street just north of St. Rita Church.   Halloween night is the night when everyone participates, so that’s the night to go see it.

This will be our thirteenth year covering Halloween in Sierra Madre.  You can use the links below to take a look back in time.    Enjoy.  If you would like a high resolution version of these images or a print of any of the images, that can be arranged.  Contact me here.
