Posted 4/20/13 – The City held the annual Huck Finn Derby on Saturday, April 6th with more than 200 kids participating. You can see the City Press Release with a list of the winners, a group picture, and a picture of the Derby winner if you click here. We took a few pictures (ha!, try a few dozen) that we thought we’d share. I also have some video I’ll be posting later, but in the meantime, here’s the pics we shot that day.
- There was a line to get in when I arrived shortly after 6:30am
- Civic Club volunteers helped the youngsters with their wrist bands
- It was an Ansel Adams kind of morning
- A recent addition to the event is the pre-Derby campout
- They did not run out of firewood
- Kiwanians were there providing breakfast for all, and coffee for the parents
- Sponsor Berkley was there with advice for the anglers
- WaterWorks provided a couple of lifeguards to increase safety
- The first fish caught, as far as I could see, happened within about two minutes of the opening bell
- Winners in each age group and certain categories get trophies
- Shout out to the sponsors
