5:40am UPDATE: Search to Resume at Daybreak for Chantry Flat Murder Suspect

Just spoke to the press office at the LA Sheriff’s Dept..  Kevin Wolfe Pochter, the 55-year old suspect in the slaying of 53-year old Arcadian Dean Albert, is still at large.  The Sheriff’s Dept. stated that the search was discontinued overnight, but will resume at daybreak.  The search will again include the use of search dogs and the SWAT team.

Albert’s body was discovered lying on the side of Big Santa Anita Canyon Road, south of the Chantry Flats Recreation Area on Thursday, April 28th at about 5:35pm.  SMPD responded and emergency crews treated Albert at the scene, and transported him to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

Pochter, a Huntington Beach resident, is a 53-year-old white male, described as 6 feet tall, 175 pounds, and bald with blue eyes. When last seen, he was wearing dark clothing. He is considered ARMED and DANGEROUS.  He is an experienced hiker and was last seen hiking in the San Gabriel Mountains above the cities of Arcadia and Monrovia on Saturday evening, April 30, 2011.  

According to LASD, anyone who sees Pochter or knows of his whereabouts should not take any action, but immediately call 911.
