Final Week of Friday Night Live Brings Art, Music, Big Prizes!

August 21, 2011 – More than a dozen and a half Sierra Madre businesses have contributed to create two Grand Prize  shopping/dining sprees as part of the Friday Night Live event put on by the Chamber of Commerce each summer, this year also sponsored by Athens Services.

Shoppers who spend more than $35 in a retail store or $50 in a restaurant during Friday Night Live (6:30 to 9pm Fridays through August 26th) can bring their receipt to the Chamber booth in Kersting Court to be entered in the drawing, which will be held as part of this week’s closing night festivities.

The grand prizes include $25 gift certificates from Angel’s Everywear, Arnold’s Frontier Hardware, Baldwin Jewelers, Barney’s Only Place in Town,  Bean Town Coffee House, Belle’s Nest, Bottle Shop, Butterfly Effect Day Spa, Café 322, Casa del Rey, Corfu, Laurel’s Treasures,  Savor the Flavor, Sierra Bistro, Sierra Juice and Zugo’s Café.  In addition, the Four Seasons Tea Room has donated Afternoon Tea for one ($22 value), Hands 2 Health Chiropractic has donated a free massage ($50 value), and the Sierra Madre Playhouse has donated theater tickets for two ($40 value) for each of the prizes. Total value of each prize is nearly $600!

“Considering that there are two prizes, and considering the relatively low number of entries that will end up being in the drawing, everybody in the San Gabriel Valley should be heading up here to get in this contest,” said Bill Coburn, executive director of the Sierra Madre Chamber.   “The odds of winning are going to be pretty good compared to other contests.”

The band Travel by Sea will be performing live in Kersting Court Friday evening, sponsored by Century 21 Village Realty.  In addition, the first 125 people that visit the Chamber booth will receive a free pair of Groucho style fun glasses to wear while shopping downtown this Friday night.

This Friday’s event will also feature an “Art Alley” in the street, with local Sierra Madre artists displaying and selling their artwork all evening.
