Richard Mays Named 2011 Citizen of the Year

Posted 12/23/11 – The Sierra Madre Chamber of Commerce announced that it has named Richard Mays to be the 2011 Citizen of the Year.  In 2011, Mays served as the City’s Deputy Treasurer, sat on the UUT Oversight Committee, was a member of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), the SMPD Volunteer Force, and acted as Treasurer for the Sierra Madre Historical Preservation Society.  He is also a retired 32-year volunteer veteran on the Sierra Madre Fire Department.  Pictured with Mays, from left to right, are Melanie Shewmaker and Caroline Brown of CERT, Sierra Madre Police Chief Marilyn Diaz, Matt Krantz, Chamber president, and Chief Steve Heydorff of the Sierra Madre Fire Dept.

Mays will be honored at the Citizen of the Year dinner in January, details to follow.
