Posted 3/2/15 – The Sierra Madre Rose Float Association announced it has selected the design for its 2016 float, and the design has been approved by the Tournament of Roses Association.  Each year, the Association solicits designs from the community, and one or more is selected for submittal to the Tournament of Roses Association for approval.  This year’s winning design was submitted by Richard Burrows and features several flamingos.  It seems to be a fitting design/tribute, as longtime SMRFA President Bob Young, who passed away last year, was a fan of flamingos, and his house features three lighted flamingos.  The Float does not yet have a name, and the group is soliciting potential names from its members on its Facebook page.

Also, SMRFA announced that due to a conflict with the Wistaria Festival on March 15, the date of its next regularly scheduled General Meeting, the Association has postponed its meeting until March 29th, when the major topic of discussion will be the annual April Legendary Bingo Fundraiser.
