Alverno Softball Makes Final Four with 4-1 Win Over St. Anthony’s

Posted 5/31/15 – The Alverno High School Jaguars varsity softball team advanced to the final four of the 2015 CIF Southern Section Softball Playoff Brackets – Division 6 on Thursday, with a 4-1 over St. Anthony’s of Long Beach, led by Player of the Game Katie Taix who pitched six hit ball, including 12 strikeouts and gave up only one run.  Katie also reached base twice on offense with a base hit and a fielder’s choice.  Clara Avila was 2 for 4 and Julia Goss went 2 for 3.  Cailen Rodriguez knocked in two of the Jaguars runs, and Clarissa Gianoli also had an RBI.  The Jaguars, now 22-4, will face the Savanna Rebels of Anaheim (30-1) in the semi-finals on Tuesday at 3:15pm.
