Huck Finn Fishing Derby, 2003

Each year the ponds behind the baseball field play host to the Huck Finn Fishing Contest. In 2002, in cooperation with the Civic Club, Kiwanis of Sierra Madre, and the Sierra Madre Volunteer Firefighters' Association, the Parks and Recreation Dept. sponsored the derby for children ages 3 to 15. The event took place on Saturday, Mar. 29, 2003.  Thanks to Paul Magaris and Rita Pierce for providing these great photos.  Click on a thumbnail to view the enlarged version of the picture.

The fishing was amazing at this year’s derby.  Tons of monster size fish were caught by kids of all ages.  The weather was perfect and everyone had a wonderful time.  Great job young fishers… we look forward to seeing you catch fish next year.
