Relay For Life 2000

ACS Relay For Life Raises $94,000+ for Cancer Research  The Sierra Madre Relay for Life was held Saturday and Sunday, and RFL President Susan Clifton announced during the closing ceremonies that the preliminary figures showed that more than $94,000 had been raised for cancer research by the 18 teams participating in the 24-hour overnight event.  The Civic Club/Kids for the Cure tandem team raised more than $18,000, and took the prize as the team that raised the most money. The team that was awarded first place for its campsite "theme" was the Bean Team.  Photo at top left shows cancer Survivors opening the relay by walking the first lap.  Right photo is of the Sierra Madre ACS Relay For Life Committee, which put the event together.  Bottom left photo shows a caring young lady who donated her hair to the Locks for Love program, with the help of the staff from Lunch Salon.  Locks for Love provides wigs to cancer patients who have lost hair due to chemotheraphy or other treatments.

On July 11, Sierra Madre Civic Club held a tri-tip dinner fundraising event, with proceeds to benefit the Sierra Madre ACS Relay For Life.  Please click here to view coverage of that event.
