Sierra Madre Police Blotter

During the week of Sunday, January 20th, to Saturday January 26th, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded to approximately 247 calls for service. 

 

Sunday, January 20th:

 

4:45 PM – Suspicious Circumstances - A resident reported that his daughter and a friend were walking close to their home when an older model yellow car began following them. At one point the car stopped and man described as a male white with dark hair, approximately 6 ft., wearing a green tee-shirt, got out of the car, but the girls ran home. Officers responded to Olive Ave. and Baldwin Ave. and conducted an extensive area check. Neither the car nor a man was found.

7:05 PM – Annoying phone calls, 100 block East Alegria Ave. A resident reported receiving annoying phone calls and text messages from her ex-boyfriend. No prosecution was desired, only documentation. 

 

Monday, January 21st: 

 

6:58 PM – Warrant arrest, 100 block North Michillinda Ave. A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. A records check revealed the driver, a resident of Temple City, had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. The driver was arrested and transported to the Arcadia Jail for remand. 

 

Tuesday, January 22nd:

 

2:45 PM – Arrest, 400 block West Sierra Madre Blvd. Officers stopped a car for an equipment violation. A records check revealed the driver, a resident of Baldwin Park, was unlicensed. The driver was arrested and released on a written promise to appear. 

 

Wednesday, January 23rd:

 

11:52 AM – Arrest, Fairview Ave and Grove St. Officers stopped a suspicious man walking in the area. During the investigation the man fought with the police officer, resulting in the man’s arrest for resisting arrest, possession of narcotics, marijuana, and violation of his probation. He was transported to the Pasadena Jail for remand.

7:16 AM -  Arrest, 110 West Sierra Madre. Officers stopped a car for a blown out brake light. A records check revealed the driver, a resident of Pasadena, was unlicensed. The driver was arrested and released on a written promise to appear. 

 

Thursday, January 24th:

 

12:55 AM – Arrest.   Officers received information regarding the suspects to a residential burglary that occurred on January 15th in the 200 block of W. Carter Ave.  Officers went to a hotel in the City of Claremont where they developed probable cause to obtain a search warrant to search two motel rooms and a vehicle.  The investigation resulted in the recovery of property stolen in burglaries in Sierra  Madre and Alta Loma.  Officers arrested seven suspects, including three gang members from Pomona.  The investigation is continuing.     

 

Friday, January 25th:

 

6:38 PM – Tampering or injuring a vehicle, 600 block Alta Vista Drive. A resident reported her car tire damaged by a large metal nail. The damage was discovered Thursday, 1/24.

 

Saturday, January 26th:

 

12:58 PM – Vandalism, 700 block West Sierra Madre Blvd. A resident reported her car was keyed, leaving a 10” scratch.  The car was parked at her residence. The damage occurred between 7:00 pm Friday, 1/25 and 9:30 am Saturday, 1/26. The damage was estimated at $100.00.
