Sierra Madre Police Blotter

During the week of Sunday, February 17th, to Saturday February 23rd, 2008, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded to approximately 243 calls for service. 

 

Sunday, February 17th:

1:14 AM - Arrest, 500 block North Michillinda Ave. Officers responded to the 500 block of North Michillinda Avenue regarding a fight in the street. Upon arrival officers found several adult men standing in the street and no fight. During the investigation a records check revealed one of the men, an Oakland resident, had an outstanding Pasadena criminal arrest warrant. The man was arrested and transported to the police station. He was later released on a written promise to appear.

2:30 AM DUI arrest, Valley View Ave and Valley Lights Drive, Pasadena. The officer stopped a car for a traffic violation, straddling traffic lanes. During the investigation the driver, a Los Angeles resident was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested for DUI. Her three passengers were also arrested for public intoxication. All were transported to the Pasadena Jail for remand.

1:38 PM Traffic accident, 00 block Esperanza Ave. Officers responded to a report of a traffic collision in the 00 block of Esperanza Avenue. During the investigation the accident was determined to be a “Hit and run” collision involving a parked vehicle.

9:23 PM Arrest, 70 West Sierra Madre Blvd, Buccaneer. The manager reported an intoxicated patron, who was refusing to leave. The man, a Sierra Madre resident, was subsequently arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Pasadena Jail for remand.

 

Monday, February 18th: 

11:10 PM Arrest, Valley View and Michillinda Ave, Pasadena. The officer stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation; further investigation revealed the driver, an Azusa resident, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.  The man was issued a written promise to appear and released.

 

Tuesday, February 19th:

3:15 PM Theft, 100 block San Gabriel Court. A resident reported several items stolen from his unlocked car: Maui Gin sun glasses, a blue vinyl bag 5” x 12 “and a “Grand Am” ID card. The crime occurred Tuesday, 2/19 between 9:00 am and 11:00 am. Total loss was estimated at $220.00.

4:16 PM Theft, 500 block North Michillinda Ave. A resident reported that party guests may have stolen jewelry, a wallet, an IPOD, and other belongings from the family home. The crime occurred the evening of Saturday, 2/16 and early Sunday morning, 2/17 when the resident was away, and his son hosted a party. Police officers had been sent to the home, 2/17 at around 1:14 am, regarding a fight in the street; however, the loss was not discovered until after officers left. The total loss has yet to be determined.

 

Thursday, February 21st:

6:19 PM Arrest, 70 West Sierra Madre Blvd, Buccaneer. The manager reported an intoxicated patron who was refusing to leave. The man, a Sierra Madre resident, was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Pasadena Jail for remand.

 

Friday, February 22nd:

10:39 AM Trespassing, 225 West Sierra Madre Blvd, Sierra Madre Convalescent Hospital. A resident reported seeing a female jump the fence of the abandoned hospital property. Responding officers found two female juveniles, 15 and 17 years old, trespassing. During the investigation, the 17 year old was found to be in possession of tobacco.  Both juveniles were escorted to the police station where their guardians and the Pasadena School District were notified. Both juveniles were later released to their guardians.

1:13 PM Vandalism, The caller reported finding the letters “XK” and a figure sprayed in black paint on the door of a storage shed at Bethany Christian Church, 93 North Baldwin Ave. The vandalism occurred between 9:00 am, Tuesday, 2/19 and 9:30 am, Friday, 2/22. During the investigation the handling officer found the word “SEEK” in black on the building’s fascia panel.  

11:48 PM DUI arrest, Colorado and Vaquero, Rd. Arcadia. The officer stopped a car for a traffic violation. During the investigation, the driver, a Phillips Ranch resident, was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and the passenger, a Whittier resident, was arrested for public intoxication. They were transported to the Pasadena Jail for remand.

 

Saturday, February 23rd:

1:59 AM DUI arrest, 00 block East Orange Grove Ave, Arcadia. The officer tried to stop a car for failing to stop at a posted stop sign. The driver, an Arcadia resident, was involved in a non-injury traffic accident as he collided at his own home.  During the investigation the driver was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Pasadena Jail for remand.

4:49 AM DUI arrest, Hill and Colorado Blvd, Pasadena. The officer stopped a car for weaving and crossing the double yellow lines. During the investigation the driver, a Lynwood resident, was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Pasadena Jail for remand.

10:33 AM Theft, 300 block North Santa Anita. A resident reported her CD receiver was stolen from her unlocked car parked in the driveway. The crime occurred between 8:00 pm, Saturday, 2/22 and 10:30 am, Sunday, 2/23. The loss was estimated at $170.00.
